  • Livestock Farmers Get Farm Inputs as COVID-19 Recovery Plan through AKCares

    The Akwa Ibom Government has given Farm inputs to about 900 livestock farmers as COVID-19 recovery plan in Akwa Ibom. The provision of the farm inputs is part of the State Government's plans to promote community farming through AKCares. Beneficiaries of the AK-CARES Phase 2 Programme in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, have described the exercise as a big relief from the present economic situation, as it will boost food production in the State.

    The Akwa Ibom State Government has initiated the establishment of Ibom Model farm, a 50 hectares farm in Nsit Ubium LGA in partnership with Songhai Farms. In line with his administration’s ‘ARISE Agenda’ on agriculture, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has flagged off the construction of Ibom Model Farms (IMF) at Ikot Edibon, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

    The Akwa Ibom State government announced plans to collaborate with Bertola Machine Tools Limited to enhance food production in the region, aligning with the State Government’s commitment to achieving the agricultural revolution goals outlined in its ARISE Agenda. Governor Umo Eno disclosed this during a weekend visit to the company’s premises in Ifa Atai, Airport Road, Uyo. He toured the facility and inspected purpose-built machines and tools designed for agricultural activities. 

    The governor confirmed plans to establish equipment leasing services to give farmers access to essential machinery, thereby enhancing food sufficiency. Partnering with Bertola Machine Tools Limited will be crucial in achieving this goal.
