The journey to this legislative milestone began in the first six months of the administration. Shortly after the inauguration of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly in 2019, the Fisheries Bill was fast-tracked as part of the "Roadmap for Accelerated Development."

The Bill progressed through its readings and public hearings, eventually receiving executive assent by late 2019. This early legal win established the "Oyo State Fisheries Law 2019" as the primary regulatory instrument for the sector, fulfilling the administration's pledge to replace obsolete or non-existent rules with a modern, revenue-driving, and health-conscious legal framework before the end of its first term.
