On March 26, 2019, Fayemi signed Executive Order 005 on Free and Compulsory Education in Ekiti State, which abolished all education taxes and levies imposed on public primary and secondary schools. The Order made education completely free from primary one through junior secondary school three. To enforce compliance, Fayemi established a monitoring team to track school heads who might attempt to illegally collect levies such as PTA dues, development levies, or exam fees. Parents were empowered to report any violations directly to the Governor's office. The abolition specifically covered charges for tuition, uniforms, textbooks, and sports equipment, ensuring no Ekiti child would be denied access to basic education due to inability to pay.
